childhood observations
by rm7828

One day I was walking up the street on garbage collection day, or the day after, or the day before, for sure it was one of those days. Anyways, back in the day, that is the days when garbage was collected by hand by a couple of blokes who would pick up your garbage and throw it into the back of the truck and then put you bin back near where he picked it up. It was done by a couple of gruff looking blokes, probably rugby league players before it became fully professional and they needed to supplement their football income. This had the two fold effect of giving them more money and helping them with their fitness. This would have been in the early eighties when I lived in Bondi Junction. This day I was walking up the street on one day near garbage day, and all the bins were out, most of them being steel bins, but some of them being the new style of plastic or some type of polymer, usually black or dark green in colour. The type of bin that you could stack up into a pyramid of about six bins and plow into with your three speed dragster at full speed and knock them flying and no-one really minded because you were a kid and that’s what kids do. Anyways one of these plastic bins was red, crazy eh!!

I was wondering how you were going to tell a story in just one paragraph?

    Now I know…you didn’t! Still, interesting observation.
